Homemade Coconut Oil Conditioners.

Easy Hair Conditioners Made with Coconut Oil.

There are more than many uses for coconut oil. Ever since I was young we always had a container of coconut oil. My mom used it in the kitchen, as a conditioner, and moisturizer. I remember it made our skin soft and kept our hair healthy looking and moisturized. I know some people do not like the nutty aroma and for that reason there is refined coconut oil which does not have the aroma.  I, however, grew up on unrefined coconut oil and it does bring back pleasurable childhood memories. So read on and embark on your coconut oil journey.

Remember, coconut is actually a nut and if you are allergic to nut or anything in that family please do not attempt to incorporate it in your hair routine. Also never replace anything that could affect your health without consulting your doctor.

For the love of coconut oil, here are some recipes to try…

Aloe Vera and coconut conditioner

Here’s what you’ll need to get started:

  • 8 oz. coconut oil
  • 1 oz. aloe Vera (gel or pure aloe juice)
  •  1 oz. sunflower seed oil, or sweet almond oil
  • 1 teaspoon of vegetable glycerin
  • A few drop of essential oil (tea tree or lavender work great for hair)

Melt the coconut oil and blend it with all ingredients except for the essential oil. You want a smooth consistency. Add essential oils. Because of the aloe Vera, you may need a preservative. Viola! You are done. Section hair and apply. Use on damp hair and comb through with a wide tooth comb. For fine textured hair, a quarter sized amount works fine, dry hair may need more. and comb through clean hair.

I usually store mine in the refrigerator to keep it fresh. You also have the option of cutting down the ingredients amounts so that you can just make enough without having to store or add a preservative.

Warm coconut oil and honey. This works great when warm and used on damp hair. Please, please, please do not burn your scalp.
